The Marketing Specialist leads the development, coordination, and production of compelling proposals, qualifications packages, interview materials, presentations, and marketing engagement deliverables. This role advances business development efforts across multiple market sectors including housing, retail, healthcare, education, and specialty commercial construction. The position combines proposal management, technical writing, graphic design, branding, and strategic communication to help position COLAS competitively in the marketplace. The Marketing Specialist also supports digital marketing, asset management, internal communications, and marketing operations.
The ideal candidate is deadline-driven, collaborative, visually creative, and experienced in proposal development in the construction , architecture, engineering, or professional services industry.

QUALIFICATIONS
ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES

This position is primarily office-based and typically works Monday through Friday, averaging 8-10 hours per day at Colas Construction Headquarters.
While performing the duties of this role, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, communicate, and use standard computer and office equipment. Occasional repetitive hand and wrist movement may be required. The employee may occasionally lift or carry items up to 20 pounds.
This role may also require occasional visits to active construction project sites. Employees visiting job sites must be able to navigate uneven terrain and comply with all required safety procedures and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Proposal & Pursuit Management
- Lead the development and production of proposals, qualifications packages (SOQs), RFQs, RFPs, interview presentations, and other pursuit-related materials.
- Coordinate proposal schedules, deadlines, assignments, and deliverables across internal teams and stakeholders.
- Facilitate kickoff meetings and manage proposal workflows from pursuit strategy through final submission.
- Collaborate with operations, preconstruction, executive leadership, and business development teams to develop compelling pursuit strategies and messaging.
- Review solicitation requirements to ensure proposal compliance, accuracy, and completeness.
- Write, edit, proofread, and format technical and marketing content for clarity, consistency, and professionalism.
- Maintain and organize proposal libraries, project profiles, resumes, boilerplate content, and marketing collateral.
- Support interview preparation, presentation development, and pursuit debrief processes.
Branding, Communications & Engagement
- Develop polished client-facing materials using Adobe Creative Suite, with a strong emphasis on InDesign.
- Design visually engaging proposal layouts, presentations, infographics, project sheets, and marketing materials.
- Prepare executive briefing materials and client-facing presentations.
- Maintain brand standards and visual consistency across all external communications and marketing assets.
- Create graphics, charts, award submissions, and interview support materials.
- Coordinate photography, visual asset management, and digital file organization.
- Support website updates, project announcements, and company communications.
- Lead social media content creation and support marketing campaigns that strengthen brand awareness and engagement.
- Coordinate digital marketing materials and branded communications across multiple platforms.
- Support internal communications, employee engagement initiatives, and company culture activities as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Graphic Design, Business, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of marketing or proposal coordination experience, preferably within the construction, architecture, engineering, or professional services industry.
- Strong proposal writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly InDesign; experience with Bridge, Lightroom, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Premier Pro preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
- Familiarity with CRM, DAM, social media, and marketing platforms is preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments and with senior leadership teams.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and adaptable in a fast-paced environment.
